CDL Trainer

Conway Public School District

Qualifications:

1. High school or general education diploma preferred
2. Excellent driving record
3. Possesses Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake, passenger, and school bus endorsements
4. Meets all federal, state, and local district requirements for the operation of a school bus
5. Passes background check and random drug testing
6. Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties
7. Ability to work with staff of all backgrounds
8. Ability to complete all necessary training in a timely fashion

Terms of Employment:

The contract is hourly based on the Miscellaneous Salary Schedule.

Evaluation:

Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the transportation supervisor.

Job Goal:

Train and prepare prospective school bus drivers to obtain their CDL and required school bus endorsements by providing effective classroom, behind-the-wheel, and safety instruction in accordance with state, federal, and district requirements.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
2. Performs pre-trip inspections on buses and reports any mechanical, electrical, or safetyissues to the Transportation Department.
3. Maintains a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
4. Obeys all traffic laws.
5. Ensures safety of all staff.
6. Attends safety meetings.
7. Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request.
8. Operates a two-way radio.
9. Other duties, as assigned.
