CDL Driver (Hazmat)

Non-Exempt

Reports To: Operations Manager

Cleburne, TX

PVS DX, Inc, is a nationwide manufacturer and distributor of compressed gases and other water treatment chemicals. We are a safety conscious employer: the safety, security and welfare of fellow workers, the community and the environment are our #1 priority.

Operations provides warehousing, packaging, transportation, bleach manufacture, and office support functions for the district or Company. The driver delivers chemicals and/or compressed gases and hazardous gas in cargo tank trucks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • DOT and FMCSA Regulations for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous materials
  • Safe loading and unloading of liquid bulk and packaged liquid hazmat
  • Shipping papers (Manifest/Bills of Lading)
  • Placarding & Labeling
  • Emergency Response Information
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • First Aid for Exposure
  • Air Brake Systems
  • Safe Work Practices
  • U. S. Department of Transportation regulations covering drivers and the shipping of hazardous materials/gases
  • Hours of Service

  • Connection/Disconnection of Hoses & Coupling

Ability to:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy hoses, cylinders, equipment (often 50-75 lbs. or more) during loading, unloading and maintenance task
  • Loads and unloads cargo tanks, performing appropriate actions in the proper sequence
  • Frequently exerts forces equivalent to lifting up to 25 pounds or occasionally 50 pounds
  • May sit for long periods of time while driving
  • Prepares driver’s logs and other transportation documents
  • Works alone most of the normal workday
  • Works with delivery deadlines
  • Observes and responds promptly to changing conditions, such as traffic, weather, and road conditions
  • Visually inspects vehicles, loaded materials and unloading facilities at customer locations
  • Read and understand training materials
  • Wear required safety equipment
  • Provide quick reaction or immediate response to required situations
  • Cooperate and get along with co-workers and customer representatives

Work environment:

Travel required:

  • Travel to other plants may be required based on business needs

Attendance:

  • Drivers are expected to report to work on time and to work overtime or irregular hours, as needed, to meet customer needs
  • General Company policies regarding attendance, vacation, and leaves of absence apply.

Required education and experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 25 years of age Required
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements Required
  • Ability to operate a Manual Transmission Tractor Required
  • Two years’ verifiable experience operating a Commercial Tractor Trailer Tanker Required
  • Clear FMCSA Clearinghouse and satisfactory MVR & PSP (Good Driving Record) Required
  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles across state lines Required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical Required
  • Reliable transportation Required
  • Stable employment history Required
  • Candidate must reside in the Cleburne, TX or surrounding area
