GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Ensure the safe and reliable transport of feed, fertilizer and freight to all company locations or customers. Includes to and from all retail stores, production facilities, and distribution center, as well as, off-site locations, when required; operate specialized truck and trailering equipment, forklifts, and power equipment; coordinate with each facility’s management on all distribution processes to ensure on-time deliveries; participate in the continued improvement of the distribution system, including all processes and procedures, through a commitment to excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·Promote a culture of safety in every interaction, at every location

·Work cooperatively with employees throughout the company to achieve the common goal of instock and customer service that achieves The Grange Way standard

·Operate delivery equipment in a safe and efficient manner, abiding by all safety and regulatory guidelines and policies

·Conform to the Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations and on-duty rules; assist in the compliance of all Federal and State regulatory requirements, including compliance with internal and external audits, and company policies and procedures

·Maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) endorsement

·Maintain log book (as required by DOT) and daily equipment check forms

·Maintain file of truck maintenance and repairs

·Maintain, and inspect daily, all truck safety equipment to ensure that the facility, fixtures, equipment, including all forklifts, electric stackers, pallet jacks, trucks, etc., are maintained or repaired as needed to remain in proper working order

·Keep annual truck inspections current and window stickers maintained

·Act as a relief driver to other areas of the company and drive other routes

·Demonstrate regular predictable attendance and time management skills

·Off season responsibilities will include shop repair work, warehouse and yard maintenance

·Perform other tasks or duties as requested by the Feed Mill Manager, Distribution Manager, Fertilizer & Professional Products manager, or Director of Operations

I. Distribution Center

·Work in the Distribution Warehouse upon request, in requisitioning, receiving, storing, stocking, and distributing a wide variety of materials and supplies

·Communicate daily with other members of the Retail Supply Chain team, Ag Operations team, and Retail Stores to ensure alignment between locations on the flow of merchandise

·Ensure that proper shipping documents are in order and processed accurately

·Work with the Distribution Manager in the coordination and facilitation of relationships with third-party carriers for overflow or special shipments

·Monitor areas where shrinkage occurs and contribute ideas and suggestions for improved, standardized distribution processes; areas to monitor include, but are not limited to, inbound and outbound processes including how merchandise is received, shipped or posted, and ensuring that goods are stored properly and at the right temperature upon delivery

·Support a central claims process for mitigating credit claims by verifying, communicating, and resolving merchandise discrepancies swiftly

·Perform other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager

II. Bulk Feed

·Understand customer needs and usage requirements

·Establish weekly delivery schedule based on customer driven usage rates

·Communicate weekly delivery requests to appropriate elevator personnel for scheduling

·Work with other delivery and production personnel to establish customer priorities

·Ensure proper shipping documents are in order and processed

·Maintain positive relationships with customers

·Communicate customer needs to supervising manager and manufacturing personnel

III. Fertilizer Tender

·Work with other delivery and production personnel to establish customer priorities

·Ensure proper shipping documents are in order and processed

·Maintain positive relationships with customers

·Communicate customer needs to supervising manager and manufacturing personnel

·Ability to work around and handle hazardous materials

·Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor

IV. Fertilizer Applicator

·Maintain accurate and precise applicator logs and other records as necessary

·Perform maintenance and calibration on application equipment as required

·Establish and maintain efficient route book

·Ability to follow and interpret fertilizer and pesticide labels

·Ability to read field maps and global positioning devices

·Ability to work around and handle hazardous materials

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

·This position does not have supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or

·One to three months related experience and/or training; or

·Equivalent combination of education and experience

·Previous commercial driving experience preferred

·Previous experience in Supply Chain or Logistics Management preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

·Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence or memos; analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

·Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

·Ability effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to managers, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization or the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

·Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

·Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

REASONING ABILITY

·Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

·Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

·Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

OTHER SKILLS AND/OR ATTRIBUTES

·Must have a clean driving record and be insurable

·Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) endorsement in State of Oregon

·Must be safety-minded

·Must have the ability to attain certification on all forklifts, electric stackers, pallet jacks, trucks, etc.

·Must be adaptable, willing to alter schedule, and drive all routes to support business needs

·Must demonstrate a positive attitude

·Must possess genuine friendliness

·Knowledge of DOT regulations

·Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, as well as independently

·Ability to use large equipment for long time periods

·Solution-oriented mindset and willingness to troubleshoot difficult problems (such as mechanical issues)

·Excellent prioritization and organizational abilities with emphasis on attention to detail

·Superior written and verbal communications skills and the ability to communicate clearly to all levels within company, as well with vendors, customers, and other outside parties
