As a Truck Driver for JDH, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient transport of materials to and from specified destinations. The driver is responsible for safely completing assigned deliveries and required documentation in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Drivers interact regularly with dispatchers, mill employees, and customers, and must represent the company with pride and dependability

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor and trailer to load, transport, and deliver feed and agricultural products.
  • Pick up loads at origin and deliver them accurately and safely to destination sites.
  • Load trailers in compliance with company procedures and DOT regulations.
  • Unload products at customer locations, ensuring correct placement and securing delivery confirmation/signatures.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and fellow employees.
  • Maintain on-board computer systems (if equipped) for inputting delivery and route data.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, including completing Driver’s Vehicle Condition Reports (DVCR).
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date daily Hours of Service (HOS) logs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Complete all required delivery documentation thoroughly and accurately.
  • Uphold all safety and security standards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Maintain safe driving performance and comply with company safety expectations.
  • Demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and efficiency on every route.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while helping create an environment where employees want to work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Depending on qualifications and operational needs, drivers may be assigned to belt, flat-rack, stinger, relief, or other transportation equipment. Additional equipment-specific responsibilities and training requirements will apply.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A California Commercial Driver’s License with required endorsements.
  • Current Med Cert, submitted with employment application.
  • A satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required to advance in the hiring process. Candidates must meet JDH’s applicable safety, insurance, and risk-management requirements.
  • 2+ years of experience driving truck/trailer combinations required.
  • Comfortable with shift work, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Indoor/outdoor mill setting with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature changes.
  • Fast-paced team environment with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Must be able to climb ladders/steps on tractors, trailers and customer locations during their shift
  • Sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods.
  • May require working on a rotating shift or weekends depending on production needs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
