Job Description

General Purpose

Operate a tractor-trailer to safely and efficiently deliver products or assets to customers, warehouses, distributors, and other locations according to the assigned delivery route schedule. This position requires strong customer service, safe driving practices, and regular communication with supervisors, peers, customers, and other business partners.

Our CDL A drivers average $95,000 per year.

Hourly pay of $30.69 per hour, overtime after 40 hours.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations, policies, and safety practices.
  • Deliver products or assets according to the assigned route schedule and customer delivery expectations in a safe and timely manner.
  • Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Place deliveries in required customer locations, including coolers, walk-ins, or other designated areas.
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents, breakdowns, or other issues.
  • Load and unload product as required based on route design. This may include using a two-wheel cart and/or pallet jack.
  • Stock and order product as required, depending on the route.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with customers.
  • Report customer concerns, delivery issues, or other problems to the driver supervisor or manager.
  • Perform routine checks and proper maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment, including tires, fuel, oil, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain a clean and professional vehicle.
  • Complete all daily paperwork accurately and fully each day.
  • Maintain logbooks, trip records, and other required documentation according to company policy and DOT guidelines.
  • Perform load inventory and document the condition of freight before departure.
  • Attend all required driver workshops and training sessions.
  • Properly use company-supported applications, systems, and equipment.
  • Represent DFA in a positive and professional manner when interacting with customers, coworkers, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or doubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • Must meet all DOT requirements
  • Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • Skill in proficient computer usage
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Skills with math for calculating load size and recording accurate volume/weight measurements
  • Able to contribute to the positive performance behaviors through personal example
  • Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps to solve problems
  • Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
