Job Title :
CDI Analyst – Inpatient
Qualification :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Information Management or Relevant degree
Relevant Experience :
1- 6 Years experience in Outpatient Coding / Inpatient CDI / DRG Coding.
Must Have Skills :
1. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS (Outpatient) / ICD-10-CM & PCS (Inpatient)
2. Experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
3. Knowledge of DRG (MS-DRG/APR-DRG), HCC, and risk adjustment
4. Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, 3M, Optum)
5. Good understanding of coding guidelines, CMS regulations, and payer requirements
6. Query generation and provider communication skills
Good Have Skills :
1. Certifications: CPC, COC, CCS, CCDS, or CDIP
2. Knowledge of NCCI edits, OCE/APC logic
3. Experience in audits, denials management, and revenue cycle
4. Familiarity with tools like Excel, Power BI
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Roles and Responsibilities :
1. Review clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
2. Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, or PCS codes as applicable
3. Identify documentation gaps and issue compliant queries to providers
4. Ensure adherence to coding guidelines, CMS regulations, and payer policies
5. Perform pre-bill and post-bill audits to identify errors and missed charges
6. Collaborate with physicians and internal teams to improve documentation quality
7. Provide training and education to healthcare providers on best practices
8. Maintain records of queries, reviews, and follow-ups
9. Monitor productivity and quality KPIs and contribute to process improvements
