Job Description

Join us as a CDD Optimisation Customer Lead

  • Build your career in a senior role delivering knowledge- and data-led Customer Due Diligence (CDD) optimisation to improve financial crime risk-management, operational, and customer outcomes
  • You’ll shape optimisation activity with a focus on customer and analyst journeys, build scalable solutions, and drive delivery across RTB and CTB, working with senior stakeholders to set direction, prioritise, and ensure measurable outcomes
  • Your leadership, judgement, and continuous-improvement mindset will set a high-performing optimisation culture and deliver sustained control, efficiency, and customer-journey improvements
  • You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend a minimum 2 days per week working from the office

What you'll do

As a CDD Optimisation Lead, you’ll be accountable for defining and delivering workflow and operating model outcomes aligned to regulatory, risk, economic crime, and franchise priorities. You’ll combine deep financial crime expertise with strong analytical capability to take ownership of current performance, lead risk assessment and triage, and prioritise initiatives from problem definition through to benefits realisation. You’ll build strong, connected relationships across bank-wide functions and third-party partners to align priorities, influence roadmaps, and drive design and delivery excellence. You’ll also directly lead cross-functional delivery teams, setting clear direction and pace, coordinating specialist skillsets, and managing capacity and costs to ensure outcomes are delivered effectively.

Furthermore, you’ll build and lead a high-performing optimisation team across locations, coaching, and developing analysts while setting clear standards for insight quality, solution design, and delivery. You’ll foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, while defining and promoting a clear optimisation plan across target CDD processes, platforms, and data, aligned to regulatory requirements, risk appetite, franchise objectives, and the Economic Crime strategy.

Your work will also focus on:

  • Taking accountability for shaping, prioritising, and delivering the optimisation backlog, providing clear business requirements, success measures, and SME input to ensure high-quality design and execution
  • Leading delivery of well-designed tactical and strategic solutions, ensuring changes are customer- and user-centric, operationally sustainable, and regulatory-compliant by design
  • Driving RTB and platform performance by using KRIs, KPIs, and MI to identify trends, risks, and root causes, and prioritise interventions that improve controls, efficiency, and customer outcomes
  • Providing senior oversight of operational incidents, assessing business and regulatory impact, agreeing root cause, and driving short-term mitigation and long-term fixes
  • Working closely with Operations, Technology, Data & Analytics, SLOD, and business stakeholders to align priorities, influence decisions, and deliver outcomes at pace

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for an experienced optimisation leader with a strong track record of translating insight into sustained, measurable outcomes. You’ll set and role-model a high-performance culture, operating at pace across complex environments while balancing risk, customer, and commercial value. You’ll have a strong risk management background, and the judgement to assess, prioritise, and manage competing demands, evaluating customer impact, compliance risk, operational benefit, and franchise value. With excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, you’ll influence senior decision-making, align diverse teams around clear priorities, and drive outstanding delivery outcomes.

You’ll also need deep financial crime subject matter expertise, including extensive knowledge of AML regulations, screening and monitoring concepts, operational and platform design, data flows, and risk frameworks. You’ll be expected to hold or work toward a recognised professional accreditation, such as ICA, within 12 months. Moreover, you’ll demonstrate strong team-leadership experience, with a proven ability to lead, develop, and coach high-performing analysts who consistently deliver quality business performance.

In addition, you’ll bring:

  • Stakeholder leadership and communication: Excellent collaboration, influencing, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and cross-functional groups
  • Process, platform, and solution design: Experience in designing and automating financial crime processes and data management using AI-driven analytics, and predictive decisioning frameworks
  • Strong Agile delivery understanding: Ability to articulate business requirements, shape a backlog, and partner effectively with Operations, Delivery, Technology, and Data teams
  • Commercial and outcome-orientated mindset: Ability to prioritise change and RTB interventions based on measurable value delivered to customer, business, and compliance outcomes
  • Strong analytical capabilities: Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Excel, or equivalent tools to develop insights, KRIs, KPIs, and performance tracking
