Job Description

This position performs corrosion control maintenance by employing a knowledge of corrosion theory, conditions leading to corrosion, and the procedures utilized to remove and treat corrosion. This includes coating surfaces of support equipment components, accessories, and related equipment with paint, polyurethane, epoxy, resin, or other materials using brushes, rollers, and other devices. They will also clean corrosion areas to include inspection, identification, treatment, preservation, wash, and lubrication. The candidate will handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.

Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Preparation of the parts/or components for repaint. Minor disassembly and assembly to the extent required to treat corrosion or repaint.
• Performs component corrosion control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch up painting.
• Use appropriate powered tools consistent with corrosion removal and treatment.
• Will be required to wear a respirator.
• Must be familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around ground support equipment.
• Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series and other applicable Navy Instructions, Maintenance Instructions, LCP’s, Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Technical Directives, Manufacture manuals and Company Instructions.
• Must have a working knowledge of basic tools, and special tools.
• Must have all required personal tools and box established within 30 days of hire or job assignment.
• May be required to load, secure, and unload Support Equipment and deliver to outlying airfields.
• Document work accomplished on Maintenance Action Form (MAF) or NALCOMIS System.
• Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
• Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
• May be required to become trained and certified to become a SE Dispatcher.
• Know location of safety data sheet (SDS) and applicable safety precautions.
• May be required to perform scheduled and unscheduled inventories.
• Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.
• Other projects and initiatives as assigned as well as other reasonably related duties when directed.

Physical Requirements

Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking and working in tiring uncomfortable positions. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed fifty (50) pounds.

Working Environment

The diversity of working conditions may range from a standard climate-controlled environment where there is no physical discomfort, to a non-climate-controlled environment, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.

Professional Requirements, Qualifications, and Desired Competencies:

• Must provide proof of completion, or complete required Corrosion Control Training course as directed by COMNAVAIRINST 4790.2 (Series), within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to pass periodic medical surveillance evaluations, to include respirator fit testing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC Card.
• Certifications/Licensing as required by the Program Training and Certification Manual.
• Certifications/Licensing as required by the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series.
• Must have a valid state operator’s license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements for support equipment.
• Obtain and maintain all applicable SE licenses.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance within 12 months of hire.
• Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.
• The essential physical requirements of the position will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
• Some travel may be required.
