
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and certify aircrew survival, flight, and protective equipment to ensure operational safety and mission readiness. Perform detailed corrosion treatment, seaming/stitching, fastener replacement, and calendar-based inspections of flight gear and SAR equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preflight, postflight, turnaround, conditional, and scheduled inspections (28-, 30-, 90-, 180-, 182-, 360-, 364-day) on aircrew survival systems.
- Inspect, maintain and repair flight gear including CMU-33, AE, PRU-70, TRI‑SAR vest, and helmets (OTO, HGU‑84, HGU‑56, HGU‑102) and swimmer helmets.
- Maintain, inspect and repair Search & Rescue equipment and SAR swimmer gear.
- Sew, stitch, tack materials; install/replace fasteners, grommets, and pop (speedy) rivets; operate and maintain sewing machines and loft equipment.
- Detect and treat corrosion on flight/survival gear; use aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment.
- Operate parachute lofts and survival equipment work centers.
- Read and interpret technical documentation (blueprints, manufacturer manuals) to solve moderate-to-complex technical problems.
- As required, become certified as a CDI (Configuration Data Integrity) and/or QASO (Quality Assurance Surveillance Officer).
- Support multiple aircraft types (MH-60S/R, H-1, TH‑57, SAR H-60S).
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong experience with aircrew survival systems and flight protective equipment maintenance.
- Proficient in sewing machine operation and textile repair techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and maintenance instructions.
- Familiarity with OOMA (or equivalent maintenance/ordering system).
- Solid troubleshooting and hands-on repair skills with aircraft tools and test equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and safety-focus.
Preferred / Required Experience
- Recent hands-on experience with MH‑60S/R, H‑1, TH‑57, and Search & Rescue H‑60S strongly preferred.
- Certifications in CDI and/or QASO a plus or required per site needs.
