Job Description

If you take pride in doing quality work, value a strong team, and want to lead by example, this role offers a chance to make a real impact. At Leachman Cattle, we’re looking for a dependable, hands‑on leader who understands cattle, works well with people, and isn’t afraid to step in wherever the crew needs support. You’ll work with top‑quality seedstock, help maintain animal health and performance, and ensure day‑to‑day operations run smoothly.

This position is ideal for someone who brings professionalism to the job site, respects good stockmanship, and wants to build a team that works safely, efficiently, and with pride. If you’re motivated, responsible, and ready for a leadership role where your efforts truly matter, we encourage you to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a crew of 3–4 team members to maintain a positive, high‑performing work environment.
  • Oversee daily cattle processing, including sorting, tagging, weighing, and accurate data entry.
  • Prepare seedstock for sale through fertility testing, record management, and presentation readiness.
  • Monitor animal health daily through pen riding, timely treatment decisions, and clear communication with management.
  • Support feedlot operations by assisting with cattle flow, treatments, and general livestock handling tasks.
  • Safely operate and maintain equipment such as loaders and other machinery essential to daily operations.
  • Ensure accurate inventory, animal identification, and movement tracking across all seedstock and feedlot cattle.
  • Collaborate closely with division managers to keep cattle work efficient, timely, and aligned with operational goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Animal Science, Ag Business, or equivalent hands‑on cattle experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of cattle handling, health, nutrition, genetics, and feedlot operations.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions quickly and maintain accuracy in fast‑paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, managers, and team members.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including coaching, team building, and promoting a positive culture.
  • Highly organized, self‑directed, and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Competent with livestock record‑keeping software and basic Microsoft Office programs.
  • Physically able to meet the demands of cattle work, including lifting, walking, and equipment operation.

In 2003, Leachman Cattle started its latest chapter of data driven beef cattle selection. The company markets four lines of highly selected genetics: Angus, Red Angus, Charolais, and Stabilizer.

Through bulls, females, semen, and embryos, Leachman supplies beef seedstock, commercial beef cow/calf producers, and dairies with genetics selected for increased profitability. Additionally, Leachman provides data tools to aid producers in identifying the best genetics for their operation.
