As the Cathode / Services Supervisor at our Newburgh, IN location, you’ll help shape the way work gets done by leading teams, partnering across departments, and driving practical improvements in a heavy industrial environment.

About the Role

As the Cathode / Services Supervisor, you will supervise, schedule, and lead employees to meet departmental goals while supporting safe, efficient, and quality-focused operations across the Cathode and Baghouse process areas. You will serve as a first level of authority in the workplace, providing leadership, coaching, and clear direction so employees work safely, meet customer demand, solve problems, eliminate waste, and achieve operational goals.

Schedule: This is a day shift role. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; however, the successful candidate should be ready to begin pre-shift preparation at 5:00 a.m. Occasional overtime, weekend work, and coverage on other shifts may be required based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead employees in the Services department to meet production, safety, quality, on-time delivery, and people-related goals while providing clear daily direction and accountability.
  • Monitor departmental performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to support reliable execution and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with pot rooms, maintenance, and other support departments to solve problems, remove barriers, and keep work moving safely and effectively.
  • Apply Alcoa Business System, lean, and root-cause problem-solving practices to prevent recurrence, improve work processes, and support 5S, standardized work, flow, and TPM improvements.
  • Maintain required production and quality records in accordance with record retention expectations and departmental requirements.
  • Foster positive employee and labor relations through effective communication, contract administration, grievance handling, and day-to-day issue resolution.

What You Bring to the Role

  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Smelter experience, with the ability to understand the safety, production, and coordination demands of an aluminum operating environment.
  • A strong safety mindset and the ability to use human performance tools and concepts to identify hazards, reduce risk, and support compliance with environmental, health, and safety expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide clear direction, build alignment, and maintain effective communication within and outside the work group.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs to support documentation, communication, reporting, and day-to-day supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, execute, and work cross-functionally to support work planning, safety, and problem solving across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of Alcoa Business System or lean manufacturing principles.
  • Reline, potline, aluminum maintenance, or Warrick Operations experience.
