Job Description

Hours are full time 36 hours/week

Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Cardiovascular Services, the Medical Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab and the Cath Lab Nurse Manager, the Cath Lab Technologist will perform duties necessary for caring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, structural heart, and peripheral procedures at a technical and professional level. Under direct supervision of the physician in the Cardiac Cath Lab, the Tech will assist in performing related radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging techniques to demonstrate catheter location, position and document findings. If the physician is unable to reach the controls for our imaging equipment, the Tech will assist with the movement of the equipment or change settings to the exact specifications stated by the physician. The Tech will provide procedural care for patients, ages 18 years old and up, undergoing Cardiac, Electrophysiology, Structural Heart, and peripheral procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization lab.

Education

Associates or bachelor’s in health related field, or Paramedic/EMT License.

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Certification required to obtain: BLS upon hire and ACLS within 3 months.

Registration required to obtain: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist within 2 years of hire

Required: Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapies Licensing

Experience

One-year cardiovascular experience preferred. Critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to the Cath Lab patient by applying actions based on clinical judgment.

  • Assists physician with medical imaging within the department

  • Delivers intra procedural care in the role of circulator.

  • Delivers intra procedural care in the role of scrub

  • Delivers intra procedural care in the role of monitor

  • Takes ownership and responsibility for individual performance goals.

  • Involves self in departmental, team and committee goals.

  • Completes departmental and hospital requirements.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne contaminants, airborne pathogens, bodily fluids, slippery surfaces, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
