What Success Looks Like:

Your Impact

  • Works directly with the Catering & Events Manager to achieve departmental goals, objectives, and operational standards.
  • Schedules catering service staff to meet operational demands and event requirements.
  • Supervises catering staff and provides direction and oversight to ensure staff performance, professionalism, and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Supervises event setup, service, staffing, breakdown, and cleanup for all catering and event functions.
  • Monitors employee performance and communicates performance concerns, attendance issues, policy violations, and other personnel matters to the Catering & Events Manager to support the performance management process.
  • Ensures the accurate delivery, setup, and presentation of food and beverage items in accordance with event orders.
  • Supervises catering service staff in the delivery of food and beverage service and ensures a high level of quality customer service is provided to guests.
  • Communicates directly with Culinary teams during service to ensure proper execution of event orders and that client and guest service expectations are met.
  • Serves as the point of contact during events and acts as a liaison between guests, clients, and team members; responds to and works to resolve guest issues and concerns as necessary.
  • Assists with the acquisition and coordination of special equipment and supplies required for banquet functions.
  • Responds to operational concerns, customer feedback, and suggestions, and communicates issues to the appropriate department leadership.
  • Conducts inventory of catering supplies and equipment, including supplies used for athletic concessions, special events, and other catering operations.
  • Completes and coordinates orders for supplies and equipment needed for catering events.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable health department regulations and food safety requirements.
  • Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, assigns, supervises, and provides performance feedback to catering service staff, including student employees.
  • Leads pre-shift meetings, weekly catering operations meetings, and occasional departmental meetings.
  • Works closely with catering staff to develop and enhance skill levels and facilitate cross-training in other areas within the department.
  • Collaborates with Culinary, Sales, and other departments to ensure successful execution of catering and event functions.
  • Follows all applicable policies, procedures, safety standards, and departmental guidelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Catering & Events Manager.

What You Bring

  • Two years of related experience to include supervisory or lead responsibilities in a hotel banquet or catering environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to work shifts of twelve or more hours.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds, unassisted.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted on occasion.
  • Ability to visually examine products for quality and signage/labeling for accuracy.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, strenuous environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise others by providing clear instructions and effective criticism/redirection.
  • Ability to multi-task and utilize effective time management during production.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office Suite, cash register and POS systems.
  • Must possess a valid Food Worker Card.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable and predictable attendance.
