Priory Hospital Newbury is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the team. This role is offered on a Part Time basis working 20 hours per week over 2 amount of days.
This role will be worked on alternate weekends, one week it will be 2 x 10 hour shifts during the week the following week will be 2 x 10 hour shifts on the weekend.
Priory Hospital Newbury, Berkshire is a level 2 rehabilitation service supporting adult males with mental health needs, working towards community reintegration. It is accessible by public transport, with local bus routes nearby including services to Reading and Basingstoke, and nearby train stations providing links into London.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
You will support the catering operation by assisting with basic food preparation and maintaining high standards of food hygiene.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Understanding of fundamental food hygiene principles
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Ability to follow food hygiene and safety procedures
The following experience would be beneficial
- Previous experience working in a catering environment
- Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen support roles
