We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Marketing Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract! As a Category Marketing Manager, you’ll lead the strategy and execution for Toys, Family, Entertainment and Supplier Funded—driving commercial growth through insight-led marketing and impactful campaigns.


What you’ll be doing

As a Category Marketing Manager working for Kmart you will:

  • Lead the development of short, mid and long-term category marketing strategies (6, 12 and 36 months) that shape category marketing direction
  • Partner closely with Merchandise, Online, Insights and Marketing teams to become the expert in customer for category and competitor landscape
  • Identify category gaps, customer audience and behaviour changes required to achieve marketing objectives and sales growth
  • Translate strategy into clear, commercially focused marketing activity and communications plans
  • Lead end‑to‑end Supplier Funded and Licensing portfolio for Kmart, including strategy, commercial performance, governance and long‑term scalability
  • Develop strong briefs and work with internal teams, external suppliers and agencies to deliver high-quality, effective marketing activity
  • Lead and coach a team, building a collaborative and high-performance culture

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • 10+ years’ marketing and communications experience in retail, Licensing, FMCG or a major brand environment
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic category marketing plans that drive measurable growth
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate insights into impactful actions
  • Experience in leading a team by providing clear direction, coaching and guidance
  • Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical capability with experience using data and insights to inform decision-making
  • Highly developed planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
