Category Manager – Strategic Sourcing


Two Permanent Positions | Fassifern, Lake Macquarie


Centennial is looking for two commercially driven Category Managers to join its Strategic Sourcing team.


These are genuine ownership roles. You will lead major spend portfolios across Services & Consumables and Overhauls & MRO, working directly with operational and corporate leaders to improve value, supplier performance and commercial outcomes across Centennial’s underground mining operations.


This is not transactional procurement. You will shape category strategy, lead meaningful negotiations, challenge existing arrangements and see your work make a visible difference to the business.


You will have clear ownership of your portfolio, direct access to key decision-makers and the opportunity to help shape how Strategic Sourcing operates across Centennial.


What you will do

• Own and deliver category strategies across substantial spend portfolios.
• Lead complex tenders, negotiations, supplier selection and contract outcomes.
• Analyse spend, demand, supplier economics and cost drivers to identify value opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and strategic suppliers.
• Deliver sustainable cost reductions, cost avoidance and commercial risk improvements.
• Help shape a growing Strategic Sourcing function, including its tools, governance and ways of working.


What will you bring

• Strong category management, strategic sourcing, commercial or value-delivery experience.
• A track record managing complex, high-value sourcing initiatives from strategy through to implementation.
• Experience in mining, heavy industry, infrastructure, construction, industrial services or mining equipment.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation capability and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders.
• The ability to balance value outcomes with safety, operational, technical and supply-risk requirements.
• A practical, accountable mindset and willingness to challenge constructively.
