About the Role

Centennial are currently recruiting for an experienced Category Manager – Overhauls & MRO to complement the corporate Strategic Sourcing team, based in our Newcastle Office.

This is a high-impact role responsible for managing $100M+ in annual spend across Equipment Overhauls and MRO categories for underground and surface operations. You will be part of Centennial’s “A-team” in procurement, playing a critical role in applying competitive tension and strategically managing supplier spend across complex, multi-million dollar categories.

The governing objective of this role is to negotiate and deliver better value from Centennial’s suppliers through active category management and tactful strategic sourcing. This role will directly influence operational performance, cost outcomes, and supplier innovation across the business.

Reporting to the Group Manager Strategic Sourcing, the role is responsible for:


• Managing end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities related to equipment overhauls across underground and surface equipment, including face equipment, diesel equipment, heavy mobile equipment and infrastructure
• Conducting in-depth analysis of mining expenditure profiles and understanding associated cost drivers
• Understanding internal business needs and applying best-practice category management strategies, processes and technology to maximise economic value
• Developing, brokering and executing supplier sourcing strategies considering risk, value and reputation
• Driving supplier strategic sourcing and continuous improvement initiatives that deliver measurable cost savings
• Conducting regular supply market research to assess market dynamics, supplier strategies, pricing structures, opportunities and risks
• Developing tender documentation and leading negotiation, evaluation and management of tender processes with key internal stakeholders
• Compiling, negotiating, executing and managing supplier contracts
• Managing supplier relationships

Suitable candidates will have


• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Law, Engineering, Supply Chain, Contracts or similar
• Substantial experience in a similar Category Manager or Strategic Sourcing role
• Demonstrated experience managing categories with spend in excess of $100M annually
• Strong experience in equipment overhauls, maintenance management, or mining equipment categories
• Exposure to heavy industry environments such as mining, infrastructure or construction
• Strong understanding of procurement commercial drivers
• Highly developed commercial negotiation and influencing skills
• Strong stakeholder management capability
• Proven integrity and honesty, with a strong ethical approach to procurement and business conduct

Desirable:


• Experience with Pulse ERP systems
• Previous mining industry experience in a similar role
• Proven change management capability
• Strong facilitation and presentation skills
