The role:
The Foodservice Category Manager supports Shell Mobility Indonesia’s ambition to become the most convenient and preferred mobility retail destination by delivering a compelling foodservice offer across forecourt and convenience retail formats.
This role is responsible for defining and executing the foodservice category strategy across the Shell Mobility network – in Shell Café and Deli2Go brands, including beverages, ready-to-eat food, bakery, hot food, and strategic food partnerships. This role will drive category growth by developing strong commercial strategies, building supplier partnerships, optimizing product assortment, and ensuring strong site execution.
The Foodservice Category Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, supply chain, and global category teams to ensure the foodservice proposition is aligned with Shell’s customer value proposition and delivers strong commercial outcomes. This includes translating category strategy into actionable plans that can be effectively implemented at retail sites while ensuring excellent customer experience and operational feasibility.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and grow the business of foodservice category, by developing and implementing long-term and short-term strategy, identifying growth opportunities based on customer insights, market trends, and competitive benchmarking.
2. Develop and execute the foodservice marketing plan and category calendar, including product launches, promotions, seasonal campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives to drive traffic and basket size.
3. Define and manage the foodservice product assortment and portfolio mix, ensuring the right balance between quality, profitability, and operational feasibility across Shell Mobility sites.
4. Collaborate closely with global category teams and local stakeholders to align with Shell’s overall convenience retail strategy while adapting the proposition to the Indonesian market.
5. Lead the development of strong foodservice brand propositions and partnerships with strategic food and beverage brands to strengthen Shell’s convenience retail offering.
6. Drive category performance by monitoring sales, margins, and operational metrics, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing actions to optimize business performance.
7. Work closely with Mobility Sales and Operations teams to ensure strong on-site execution of foodservice programs, including integration into site business planning, operational processes, and capability building for frontline teams.
8. Support retailers and site operators in delivering the foodservice proposition by providing clear commercial guidance, performance targets, and operational frameworks.
9. Identify and develop partnership opportunities with external suppliers and food brands to expand the foodservice offer and drive additional value for the network.
10. Manage supplier relationships including commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, promotional funding, and contract management to deliver optimal commercial outcomes.
11. Work cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure smooth product launches, supply reliability, and consistent product quality across sites.
12. Monitor customer feedback, market developments, and competitor activities to continuously improve the Foodservice offering and maintain category competitiveness.
