The Category Manager is to ensure all procurement related sourcing and resulting contracts are conducted in a strategic, timely manner, with a focus on total cost of ownership. Work to identify and articulate Vantive’s requirements, foster competition amongst suppliers, leverage agreements across the enterprise, including working with BU key stakeholders, Plants, Legal, Quality, Finance, Global Procurement, Suppliers, and Customers to manage risk, drive savings, cost avoidance and create value for Vantive Healthcare.
- Identify and build strong strategic supplier relationships.
- Assist in developing supplier development activities, including but not limited to supplier relationship management and supplier value enhancement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work as SME in Global Category Packaging; Develop and lead sourcing strategies for Global Category Resins and deliver effective Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Statement of Works (SOW) across all Plant spend
- Develop strategic supplier relationships in partnership with local commercial teams on targeted products to improve profitability and develop new business opportunities
- Develop strong, ethical relationships with key suppliers to ensure a beneficial relationship, whilst understanding supplier’s capabilities as well as overall financial stability and associated risk. Develop supplier relationships that deliver maximum value from the current and potential supplier base.
- Create cost saving opportunities through competitive bidding, negotiations to achieve / exceed savings targets and deliver on-time reporting.
- Drive and measure Innovation and continuous improvements through utilisation of industry benchmarking.
- Negotiate price, contract terms and conditions for major goods or services and draft contracts where necessary. Establish service levels and jointly work with relevant stakeholders to measure and monitor supplier’s performance. Maintain and review supplier performance to ensure conformance to supplier management goals (cost, quality, service, delivery) Ensure timely resolution of all disputes.
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities supplier technologies, manufacturing processes, and related industries: including cost drivers, global execution, to leverage across multiple manufacturing locations, and understand specific supply issues.
- Establish strong external market and industry knowledge and networks within your respective categories ensuring that the business is well positioned to identify and take advantage of leading supply models, innovation, and other opportunities that arise. Transact and implement new or improved supply models where this will lead to improved value.
- Provide guidance regarding new industry trends and provide market intelligence.
- Provide, coach, and collaborate with other members of Procurement to ensure we are leveraging the existing tools and directions across categories
- Support International implementation of global deals where appropriate / required.
- Scope new suppliers in line with the overall business strategies
- Champion implementation and use of sourcing tools and processes within buying team across network.
- Work effectively with internal departments / stakeholders for your categories to create value including advice and governance, sustainability, performance measurement, portfolio management and support goals.
- Establish meaningful metrics to manage suppliers and drive supplier value enhancements through contract clauses and through rigorous supplier management and development activities.
- Document outcomes of deals through category management and associated economics and report on a regular basis. (BI, MIP dashboard, PPV reporting)
- Deliver internal customer service, advice and support. These customers cover a broad and diverse range of operations and locations. This will require the establishment and maintenance of a strong and efficient communication network.
- Ensure application, upkeep and maintenance of the supplier SLA’s and Best Practice Procurement metrics as well as timely and cost-effective delivery of items, are required to the operational areas of the business.
- Proactively comply with applicable Quality / Regulatory process requirements.
- Drive and develop process improvement with regards to compliance to vendor selection, contract approval process and all Procurement owned policies and systems across all stakeholders. Relentlessly support values and strategies of Vantive to help deliver corporate performance goals and mission statement.
- Monthly MIP and category meetings with MIP procurement leads, driving progress and completion of cost savings initiatives, issue resolutions and implementation of category wide strategy.
- Investigation and resolution of supplier issue resolutions.
- Ownership of pricing and PPV reporting for all budget review (monthly, quarterly and annual).
- Support SNC process corresponding to global category.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Comprehensive knowledge/SME and proven experience in one or all of the following categories:
- Flexible
- Resin
- Molded Components
- Able to quickly gain credibility and gain traction with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Influencing, consultative ability and initiative will be key competencies.

- Presentation Skills, Facilitation, Leadership, Effective communication skills

- Sound understanding of contract law
- Strong project management, planning and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding where Quality has involvement with suppliers across total vendor base.
- Analytical and business problem solving skills.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, Six Sigma) is a plus.
