Category Specialist: Technical Procurement

Basic Functions

• 
  Support technical procurement across engineering and project teams.
• 
  Partner with engineers to understand project and sourcing requirements.
• 
  Source services for small, medium, and large-scale projects.
• 
  Execute RFQ/RFP/tender processes in line with procurement policies.
• 
  Analyse spend, market pricing, supplier performance, and cost drivers.
• 
  Support sourcing strategies to improve cost savings and reduce supply risk.
• 
  Assist with supplier selection, onboarding, and contract coordination.
• 
  Work with internal stakeholders including engineering, commercial, legal, and operations.
• 
  Track supplier timelines, manufacturing lead times, and project delivery risks.
• 
  Maintain procurement records, reports, contracts, and sourcing data.
• 
  Ensure compliance with procurement governance, policies, and approval processes.
• 
  Support contract management, supplier performance, and savings tracking.

Requirements

• 
  National Diploma or Degree in Engineering
• 
  5+ years’ procurement, supply chain, or technical buying experience.
• 
  Experience in technical procurement or engineering-related sourcing.
• 
  Experience with project procurement and multi-disciplinary project environments.
• 
  Strong exposure to RFQ/RFP/tender processes and supplier negotiations.
• 
  Experience with capital procurement or project-based sourcing advantageous.
• 
  Good understanding of contracts, commercial terms, and supplier management.
• 
  Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend and technical data.
• 
  Advanced Excel and strong procurement systems knowledge.
• 
  Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• 
  Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• 
  Attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
