We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Category Manager to join our Hong Kong Merchandising team. Reporting to Senior Merchandising Manager, the mission for the Category Manager role is to create and lead strategic category initiatives for Sephora Hong Kong.   • Taking ownership of the Fragrance and Haircare categories to drive the business through optimizing assortment, trade marketing strategies, and driving productive growth
  • Monitoring & identification of exciting trends, new brands, merchandising programs and ad-hoc strategies to optimize category growth and performance
  • Set up and track omni-channel category performance (by channel, markets, segments, margin, productivity, brand conversion & stocks management) vs set KPIs
  • Execution & implementation of programs per the category strategies as defined in budget and start planning
  • Work closely and develop relationship with brand partners to meet goals and objectives
  • Support the mentoring and career development of interns/executives in the team

Brand management

Trading terms negotiation and review

  • Coordination and maintenance of brand agreement sign off & subsequent renewals
  • Develop the annual brand plan including product launch calendar and sales targets
  • Ensure a relevant (productive) assortment for each brand in accordance to the set linear productivity measure for the category

Brand/Product Launch plans

  • Work with brands on their annual launch and animation plans
  • Monitoring and measuring assigned brands performance against category sales and profitability benchmark
  • Launch Plan, new listing process: sell-In, vendor form, sales forecast, first pipe order, brand deck
  • Manage new sell-in process: data validation & submission
  • Review new product launches, planograms, key focus categories, pricing, forecasting of new/one shot/animation

Floorplan management, store opening and renovation

  • Monitor and regular checks on assigned brand placement/location within stores to be in accordance to category principles
  • Work with brands on fixtures, stocks and merchandising for new store opening, store renovation and subsequent updates according to launch timing

Stock Management

  • Work with supply chain to meet the company’s stockholding KPI
  • Review SOH with supply chain and propose action plans for SKUs with high stock holding and discontinued SKUs – maximising the action plans during key Sephora sale periods
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure deliveries meet launch dates and campaign

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Liaise & co-operate with all departments to ensure strong launch plans & 360 execution
  • Work closely with internal stake holders (regional teams, marketing, supply chain, ecommerce teams) to meet category goals

We would love to hear from you if…

  • You have a Bachelor Degree in Business/Marketing or related discipline
  • You have minimum 6 years Account/Brand Management/Merchandising experience, ideally from the beauty or FMCG industry
  • You have excellent IT and database skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), SAP is a plus
  • You have excellent command of spoken and written English
  • You have in-depth understanding of international & local beauty brands, market trends and consumer buying behavior
  • You are proactive and have the ability to multi-task in a faced paced working environment
  • You have strong interpersonal communication skills with proven track record in managing relationships with brand partners
  • You have strong numerical and analysis skills, Diligent with good attention to detail
