Casual Team Member | Lifeguard - Takapuna

Are you passionate about safety, wellbeing, and customer experience? As a Lifeguard, you’ll play a key role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for everyone who visits our aquatic facilities.

In this role, your strong observation skills, calm approach, and people-focused nature will shine. You’ll confidently supervise pool activities, engage positively with customers, educate visitors on pool rules, and respond promptly to first aid situations when required.

He kōrero mōu: About you

As a Lifeguard, strong swimming skills are essential to succeed in this role. To be considered, you’ll need to confidently demonstrate your ability and pass a swimming assessment as part of the selection process:

  • Swim 200m in under 6 minutes
  • Swim 25m sidestroke
  • Swim 50m breaststroke
  • Retrieve an object from the bottom of the pool
  • Tread water for 5 minutes

In addition to strong swimming ability, we’re looking for individuals who demonstrate proven administration and communication skills, a track record of delivering outstanding customer service, and a high level of maturity and reliability. As this role operates on a variable roster, access to reliable transport is essential.

You will be required to attend the following training dates at West Wave. Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm:

  • July 6 - July 17 2026
