What is the role?
As a Casual Safety Steward, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all visitors to St Mary's Stadium on match days and during other events.
What will you be doing?
You willbe responsible formaintaininga safe and secure environment, providing excellent customer service, and responding effectively to any incidents.
Key responsibilities will include:
Bea friendlyand helpful point of contact for all visitors and staff.
Support withpre-event checksto ensureall facilities are safe and compliant.
Monitor crowd behaviour andreportany potential risks or issues.
Direct spectators and staff to their seats, facilities, and exits
Respond to incidents, emergencies, and customer queriescalmly and professionally, following established procedures.
Assistwith the safe evacuation of the stadium or specific areas ifrequired
Enforce stadium rules and regulations, including those related to anti-social behaviour and prohibited items.
Report any suspicious activity, unattended items, or hazards
Workas a teamwith stewards, security, and emergency services.
Attend pre-event briefings and de-briefings asrequired

In some stewarding positions,previousexperience may berequired
Applicants who do not currently hold a Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety must complete a course to obtain the qualification.

Our recruitment process is as follows:
Application– If your application is successful, you will be invited to a group interview
GroupInterview–Toassess your suitabilityfor working in busy situationsand engaging with others.
Pre-Employmentchecks– If your interview is successful ,you will need to complete a Standard DBS check, provide evidence of your right to work in the UK andsupply suitable references.
Induction– You will get to know the stadium and relevant processes
Matchday–Once everything above is complete, you will work your first matchday!
Beyond– Within the first6-12 months you will complete your Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety Once you have this you can work your way up the team, go on to do your Level 3and develop into a Stand Manager if you wish to do so.
