The Role:

As a Casual Safety & Security Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a high standard of safety and security across both St Mary’s Stadium and our Staplewood Training Campus. You will be expected to operate in a professional manner, responding quickly and effectively to incidents, ensuring the safety of all individuals, and protecting club assets.

From delivering top-level protection during League and Academy fixtures, to managing high-profile concerts, boxing and darts nights, and exclusive hospitality events — no two days are the same.

Whether at our iconic stadium or our world-class training campus, you’ll be part of a professional, dynamic team safeguarding one of the South Coast’s most prestigious sporting and entertainment venues.

This is a flexible role suitable for individuals seeking casual work on matchdays, training sessions, and ad-hoc events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible and professional security presence across club sites.
  • Monitor crowd movement and behaviour, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of fans, staff, and players.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and emergencies, reporting and recording as necessary.
  • Conduct bag and person searches in line with club procedures.
  • Operate access control systems and monitor CCTV (if qualified).
  • Support the matchday operation, including pre- and post-event security checks.
  • Assist with traffic management and parking control where required.
  • Collaborate with other departments, emergency services, and stakeholders to uphold safety standards.
  • Ensure all club policies, including safeguarding and health & safety, are adhered to.

Essential Criteria:

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence
  • Valid Emergency First Aid at Workcertificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and act decisively.
  • A strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
  • Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS checkprior to starting.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance)Licence.
  • Previous experience in a stadium or high-footfall event environment.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding principles in a sporting environment.

Additional Information:

This role requires flexibility and commitment to working as part of a casual pool of staff. Shifts are typically scheduled around matchdays, training events, and other operational requirements. Relevant training will be provided.
