Other Conditions Position is temporary casual hire position and offers no benefits, 89 day hire, not to exceed 40 hours/week. Hours may vary.

Under the direction of the Head Women’s Indoor Volleyball Coach and Men’s Indoor Volleyball Coach,incumbent will assist with all administrative aspects of the NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Volleyball and Men’s Indoor Volleyball programs, organizing recruitment, team travel, coach’s travel, administrative work, compliance with NCAA, Big West conference and University of Hawaii rules and regulations, student-athlete academic achievement, and other duties assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Head Coach in managing the budget, promoting the program and the day-to-day administrative operations, liaison with student housing;
  • Organize and communicate with internal and external constituencies, facilitate scheduling, film exchange, and lead summer camps;
  • Assist in planning and coordinating team travel for away contests, including necessary travel documents, developing travel itineraries, transportation, hotel arrangements, meals, and practice scheduling with opponent’s facilities through appropriate contacts and coordinating family travel for coaches in accordance with employment agreement(s);
  • Assist in planning and coordinating coaches recruiting and personal development travel including necessary travel documents, developing travel itineraries, transportation, hotel arrangements and meals;
  • Responsible for securing facility needs on a day-to-day basis for all home and away practice times. Serve as a liaison with facilities, women’s volleyball and men’s volleyball on scheduling;
  • Responsible for coordination of practice times and game day needs for opponents;
  • Responsible for hiring, supervising ball-kids and monitoring program volunteers;
  • Assist in organizing prospective student-athlete official recruiting visits (e.g. meetings with appropriate staff, schedule of activities, host coordination);
  • Assist in designing recruitment collateral and other related materials, and finalizes text for electronic and print publications while ensuring compliance with the team’s marketing/recruitment goals and objectives;
  • Responsible for requisitions, quotations, purchase orders and other fiscal documents for compliance with applicable laws, UH, UH Foundation, Big West Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations;
  • Assist in inputting current and accurate team information in ARMS software and management of compliance software;
  • Actively participates in all elements of fundraising for men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball
  • Work outside normally scheduled work hours including days, nights, weekends and /or holidays hours as directed;
  • Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regard to the Clery Act;
  • Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information, files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess, in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies;
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with administrators, staff and coaches in the department, other college offices, and appropriate relationships with members of the media, donors, and other individuals interested in the sports program;
  • Know, recognize, and comply with the laws, policies, rules, and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if you have reasonable cause to believe violations, whether by employees or students, have occurred or will occur;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university;
  • Knowledge of volleyball as played at the intercollegiate level.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Volleyball playing experience at the Division I level.
  • Willingness to gather match statistics.
