Vitelli's in Surry Hills is seeking a Casual Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This temporary role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment. As a Commis Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality dishes, ensuring that our guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of senior chefs
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations
• Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to
• Support the team during service periods to ensure timely delivery of meals
• Help with stock management and inventory control
• Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance culinary skills

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a commis chef role or similar
• Basic culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new cooking methods and styles
• Food safety and hygiene certification is an advantage
