
Star Group Wellington is on the hunt for skilled Casual Chefs at Commis, Chef de Partie, and Sous Chef level to support our busy venues across the city.
This is a great opportunity for chefs who enjoy variety, flexibility, and fast-paced service. You’ll step into different kitchens where needed, bringing consistency, quality, and a strong team mindset to every shift.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting prep and service across multiple Star Group venues
Running your section confidently (CDP & Sous level)
Assisting with kitchen coordination and service flow
Maintaining high food quality, presentation, and consistency
Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times
What we’re looking for:
Commis Chef: At least 1 year kitchen experience and a passion to learn
Chef de Partie: Minimum 2 years’ experience running a section confidently
Sous Chef: Strong leadership experience with the ability to support and lead a team through service
Relevant cookery or food safety qualification (NCEA Level 3 or 4 or equivalent)
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to different kitchen environments
Reliable, flexible, and a team player with a great attitude
