THE BACHELOR OF DESIGN STUDIES
The Bachelor of Design Studies is one of the largest undergraduate programs within the School of Communication & Design and is offered at both our Saigon South and Hanoi City campuses. The Design Studies program has an integrated curriculum where students are taught in various disciplines of design and can specialize in areas such as graphic design, illustration, UI/UX design, and spatial design. The program comprises strands in branding, typography, editorial design, illustration, print making, app & web design, motion graphics, spatial design, 3D modelling, and animation. All courses are supported with contextual and theoretical underpinnings. The Design Studies program has an excellent reputation nationally and internationally, and it is no surprise that our graduate employment rate is exceptionally high.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Casual Associate Lecturer is expected to contribute primarily to the teaching efforts of the University in disciplines related to their field of expertise. The role focuses on delivering high-quality learning experiences within undergraduate programs in the Design Studies discipline.
Casual Associate Lecturers are responsible for preparing and conducting classes, supporting students in their learning, assessing student work in accordance with course requirements, and contributing to the overall quality of the student experience. The Casual Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.
While research is not a formal requirement for Casual staff, those with an interest in scholarly or professional practice are encouraged to engage in related activities in collaboration with the program team.
Casual Associate Lecturers are also expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, contributing to course delivery, moderation, and continuous improvement processes. They should maintain up-to-date knowledge of their subject area and actively support the program’s learning and teaching goals, ensuring alignment with RMIT’s pedagogical principles.
Reports to: Associate Program Manager, Design Studies
Key Accountabilities:
• Undertake independent teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level including: designing, conducting and moderating assessment; implementing improvements informed by course evaluation activities and student feedback, curriculum development, coordinating industry activities, relations, and program related events.
• Undertake administration duties, which may include course coordination role or management of a small award program.
• Adhere to the requirements of the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam.
• Other duties assigned in consultation with Line Manager

All academic appointments at RMIT Vietnam must meet University and local regulatory requirements, including English proficiency, background checks, and (for international candidates) eligibility for a work permit.
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 7.0 with no competency less than 6.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
