The job of Cashier is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the food service activities at assigned location with specific responsibilities for collecting funds for daily meal transactions; balancing accounts and depositing funds utilizing established accounting practices; and reviewing Free and Reduced Program applications.
This job reports to Director of Child Nutrition Services and Principal of School.
SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment; and using pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily
perform the functions of the job include safety practices and procedures; district cash collection policies and procedures; and food preparation, handling and sanitation practices.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include communicating with diverse groups; and working with interruptions.
Responsibilities include working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 90% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
