The Cashier - Aquatics is a seasonal position. We offer competitive compensation, and PTO for seasonal employees.
Job Purpose:
Responsibilities include maintaining an inviting, positive environment while completing cash handling and attendance tracking during all public sessions at the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex & Rehm Pool.  This includes customer-focused monitoring of the main entrance of the facility, accepting payment and pool passes, and following Point of Sale procedures. The Cashier is responsible for performing the essential functions as outlined in this description.
Essential Functions:
Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive public image when working with patrons by addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents immediately
Become familiar with regular visitors to the facility; create a rapport with customers
Follow the Park District's cash handling procedures; perform cash transactions and pass admissions
Maintain cleanliness of cashier booth and skate shop, and assist in overall facility cleanliness throughout shift
Enforce Park District rules and policies to participants and patrons as they enter the facility
Complete end-of-shift reporting and depositing of money
Complete attendance reports, safety logs, accident and incident reports, and discipline logs; Report discipline issues to supervisor
Identify and observe equipment daily for possible maintenance needs and adjustments; report needs to supervisor
Maintain a complete understanding of Park District emergency action plans and assist in the execution of the plan when required
Wear the required PDOP staff uniform and identification during all work hours
Additional Functions:
Occasionally assist with events and programs
Attend staff meetings and training programs as specified, including pre-season training
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor or other Park District administrative personnel
Knowledge, Skill, and Work Experience Required:
Must be 16 years of age or older
High School graduate or GED preferred
Customer service experience preferred
Some experience with data entry and generally accepted office procedures preferred
Cash handling or other work experience preferred
Knowledge, experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications; ability to learn required Park District Software systems
Must have the ability to solve problems as they arise
Must have the ability to be firm with rink visitors (both youth and adults) when necessary, enforce park district rules, and make sound decisions in order to secure the safety and well-being of all park visitors, facilities, and equipment
Must be able to complete required Park District training, including pre-season training
Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 1 month of employment and keep certification current.  The District provides this training.
Work Environment, Physical Demands and Considerations:
Frequent sitting, walking, standing, reaching, bending
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
Will be exposed to occasional inclement weather including heat, humidity, cold, rain, and wind.
Prolonged hours seated at a desk or standing to assist customers
Prolonged hours of computer use
Ability to work independently without supervision
Ability to use calculator and cash register proficiently
Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a concise manner
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively and to read and understand printed material
Ability to effectively interact and communicate well with others
Ability to interpret and explain department and District policies and procedures
Ability to follow safety guidelines and exercise judgment in all aspects of responsibility
Ability to resolve conflict safely, calmly, and effectively
