The Cashier will use cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities:- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:- At the beginning of shift, count drawer to ensure that it balances.
- Greet customers as they enter the location.
- Ask every customer at the time of check out if they would like to participate in Do It Best Rewards
- Know the discount policy and apply discounts only in accordance with company policy.
- Accept money in the form of cash, checks, and credit or debit cards for items purchased; validate check.
- Take check and credit card payments for customers with charge accounts.
- Assist with refunds and exchanges in accordance with company policy.
- If a line forms in your aisle, call for other cashiers.
- During slow times, should be straightening and facing aisles, mopping, sweeping, cleaning front windows, etc.
- Assist customers with questions or price discrepancies.
- At the end of the shift, count the drawer to ensure that it balances with the sales report.
- Identifies prices of products and services and tabulates bills with available equipment.
- Assists customers in locating various products, resolving complaints, or providing information.
- Bag, box, and wrap purchased items.
- Compliance with Hacienda uniform policy.- Ongoing completion of online training.- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Excellent customer service skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners.
- Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
- Knowledgeable about company’s products and services, and customer-related policies
Education and Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Successful completion of on-the-job training
Physical Requirements: - Prolonged periods standing and working on cash register or related equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- May need to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time.
Compensation: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
