The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service while serving, and selling food, beverages, and related merchandise. This role ensures cleanliness, accuracy, and efficiency in all transactions while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations. The Cashier is responsible for building a culture based around teamwork, execution and hospitality and will be participating in all day-to-day operations.
Section 2 – Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of a Cashier include, but are not limited to, the following:
Guest Service
Greet guests promptly and provide knowledgeable explanations of items, specials, and promotions.
Take accurate food, beverage, and merchandise orders on the POS ensuring timely service.
Serve items including snacks, hot and cold foods, and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
Anticipate guest needs and respond to inquiries and guest feedback in a courteous and professional manner.
Cash Handling & Point of Sale
Accurately process all sales transactions.
Balance cash drawers and reconcile inventory at the end of shift in accordance with employer policies.
Protect the integrity of all monetary transactions and report discrepancies immediately.
Maintenance & Sanitation
Maintain cleanliness of Front of House area, equipment, disposables, and service tools in accordance with health and sanitation standards.
Responsible for the assembling and breakdown of the Cashier area as required for nightly closing.
Report and record maintenance needs or safety hazards to management in a timely manner.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including food preparation areas, counters, and equipment.
Restock display area with food, beverages, utensils, and supplies as needed.
Follow proper food handling and safety guidelines.
Verify customer age and identification for alcohol purchases in compliance with applicable laws.
Assist with inventory counts and reporting.
Cleaning all customer facing areas including the collection and removal of trash.
Compliance & Safety
Comply with all state and municipal liquor regulations, health codes, and safety protocols.
Attend mandatory trainings, certifications, and safety meetings required by law or employer policy.
Follow all employer safety standards and guidelines regarding workplace hazards.
Qualifications
Must meet minimum age requirements for alcohol service under applicable law.
Previous cashier or hospitality service experience preferred.
Ability to perform basic math, operate a point-of-sale system, and handle cash accurately.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse clientele.
Ability to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours or as needed
Must be able to exert well-paced and frequent mobility for a minimum of 8 hours or as needed.
Be able to lift up to 30+ pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Will frequently reach, bend, stoop, carry, use stairs, finely manipulate and key in data
Work in warm and cool environments.
Must be able to tolerate handling of potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
Completion of any state-mandated alcohol service certification (e.g., BASSET, TIPS) may be required as a condition of continued employment.
