Cash Management & Settlements Intern | Operations | Based in Barcelona

Every FX transaction Kantox processes has to settle correctly, on time, and without gaps. The Operations team is the function that makes that happen, and we are looking for a Cash Management & Settlements Intern to sit at the heart of it.

This is not a passive internship. You will manage real operational workflows from day one, supporting daily account reconciliations, payment processing, and data analysis, including preparing information used in negotiations with our liquidity providers, while actively contributing to the automation initiatives shaping the future of our department.

We are currently shifting from manual workflows to a Tech-First Ops model, and we need an intern who can do both: manage daily payments and help build the automation that scales the team.

What you will work on

• Processing incoming and outgoing transactions and ensuring payments are released and processed without delays for our clients
• Assisting with account reconciliations, payment investigations, and collaborating closely with the Settlements team
• Communicating with our banking partners to resolve trading, settlement, and other banking issues
• Supporting Kantox collateral exposure and client margin call processing
• Analysing datasets and preparing information to be presented to relevant stakeholders, including evaluating data for reporting and fees and tariffs negotiations
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Technology on automation initiatives and process improvements
• Recognising manual tasks and helping turn them into automated, scalable workflows
• Maintaining organised records and compiling data to assist with ad-hoc reporting requests

The setup

You will be based in our Barcelona office, working within the Operations team at the centre of daily FX trading and payment operations. You will interact regularly with Client Transaction Services, Cash Management and Settlements, Customer Success, Finance, Compliance and Risk, and Technology. This is a role with genuine cross-functional exposure and direct impact on how Kantox operates day to day.

Who you are

You have a solid academic background in finance or a related field and a genuine interest in financial markets and banking systems. You are detail-oriented, comfortable working under operational pressure, and the kind of person who looks for ways to improve a process rather than just run it.

You do not need to arrive as a finished product. You do need to take ownership, work carefully, and flag issues before they escalate.

Concretely:

• Currently studying or recently graduated with a degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Proficient in MS Excel and Google Sheets; experience with Power BI or similar data visualisation tools is a plus
• Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple tasks accurately and to deadlines
• Proactive, result-oriented, and a strong team player
• Experience with Python, Power BI, advanced Excel, or AI tools is a strong plus
• Currently enrolled at a university or institution that can sign a 6-month internship agreement on your behalf (mandatory; applications without this will not be considered)
