Job Description

Cash and Banking Team Manager

£50,000 to £54,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 5)

Manchester City Centre (hybrid working between home and at least two days in the office per week https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy)

We’re looking for a Cash and Banking Team Manager to join our Sales to Cash team in our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

As a Cash Manager, you’ll manage a large team responsible for carrying out bank reconciliations accurately and on time across Co-op Funeralcare. We’ll also look to you to maintain bank accounts, oversee cash reconciliation, and put the right controls in place. If you have the skills and experience we’re looking for, and you care about supporting others in their growth and development, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Why this role matters

This role plays an important part in keeping our Co-op financially accurate and accountable. By making sure our cash and bank reconciliations are produced properly, you’ll help us protect our finances, support confident decision-making, and maintain trust with our clients, customers, and third-party investors.

What you’ll do

  • Make sure that our Co-op Funeralcare bank accounts and reconciliation processes are handled effectively
  • Identify and mitigate potential financial risks and issues
  • Lead and mentor your team, supporting colleagues in their development
  • Collaborate with colleagues to spot, explore, and act on opportunities to improve our ways of working
  • Make sure internal and external audits are completed accurately and on time
  • Support the Cash and Banking Manager with managing the wider Cash and Treasury team

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

  • An ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualification (or be currently working towards one)
  • Experience producing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Experience managing large teams
  • Great Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial information for non-finance audiences

Why Co-op?

At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

  • Private healthcare
  • Annual bonus scheme (based on individual and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
  • Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
  • 24/7 colleague support service
  • Training and support for your development and career progression
  • Cycle-to-work scheme

A place you’ll belong

We’re building diverse teams that reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from everyone, and our support centre is an inclusive environment where all our colleagues can thrive.

If you have a disability, we’ll make reasonable adjustments to support you through the recruitment process. We’re also proud to be part of the Disability Confident scheme - if you’re disabled and you meet the minimum criteria for this job, we’ll guarantee you an interview.
