Overview

Position: Caseworker/Program Facilitator

Department: Service Extension Department - Carbondale, PA

Availability of Position: ImmediateSchedule: On-Call; 19 Hours/WeekReporting Relationship: Regional Manager

Salary Grade: $13.00 per hour; 72 Non-Exempt

Overview: Maintain a positive presence in Carbondale area, develop and maintain programs of The Salvation Army and foster good relations with volunteers and other community agencies.

Responsibilities

Candidate will be expected to respond courteously and promptly to all communications, provide intake and referral services for Salvation Army clients through the Carbondale Service Unit and the surrounding areas in Lackawanna County, ensuring confidentiality of all client information. The caseworker will provide monthly statistical reports to the Regional Manager and regular Service Unit Committee meetings and work closely with the chairperson of the Carbondale Unit Committee. He or she will also provide intake for The Journey of Hope Program, assist in organizing and coordinating all seasonal programs and create others as needed or prompted including Camp recruitment, Back To School, monthly food distribution, the Red Kettle Campaign and all Salvation Army programs. The Caseworker/Program Facilitator will also oversee training any new employees or volunteers, maintaining good relations with other agencies within the community and will need to be self-motivated and self-directed to prioritize work and have a quick response to those in the field. The caseworker may be asked to attend other local agency meetings as necessary or recommended to further the outreach and effectiveness in the community for the Carbondale Service Unit. The caseworker will also perform all other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • High School Education with 3 years experience and/or extensive work history in diversified setting.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent telephone and all other communication skills.
  • Ability to work compassionately and effectively with persons seeking assistance.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 by the end of orientation with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
