Job Description

This is a merit hire position. The starting pay rate for this position is $23.77. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Dauphin County Children & Youth Services is currently accepting applications for a full-time position of Caseworker 2. The Caseworker 2 performs social service casework and case management for children, adolescents and their families by conducting interviews, assessing needs, and case planning. He/she establishes and maintains associated confidential records and collaborates with legal staff in judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings pursuant to clients’ well-being. The Caseworker 2 may make task assignments to a Social Service Aide and reports directly to the Caseworker Supervisor.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a CYS Caseworker 1.

  • Or successful completion of the Social Casework Intern program.

  • Or a bachelor's degree with a social welfare or Social Work major.

  • Or a bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social services agency.

Other Requirements:

At the time of hire, a valid driver’s license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check, child abuse and FBI clearances, as well as favorable references are required. The applicant must provide proof of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license within 60 days from the date of hire. An alternative form of identification will be accepted if you are not eligible to receive a Pennsylvania driver’s license under 67 PA. Code § 83 and driving is not an essential function of the position.
