About the role
As a Case Worker, you will provideshort‑termcrisis case management during the first 21 days of a resident’s stay. You will assess immediate housing, health, mental health, financial and practical needs, tailoring supportwith toeachindividual
You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to coordinate referrals,advocacyand access to housing pathways. The role requires agility, quick thinking and the ability to remain calm and grounded infast‑pacedor crisis situations.
This permanentfull‑timeposition sits within the Emergency Accommodation and Referral Support Service, reporting to the Team Leader: Front of House. Pay isin accordance witha SCHADS Level 5.
How you will make an impact
Provide a safe,calmand welcoming first point of contact for residents
Delivertrauma‑informed,client‑centredand culturally safe support
Assess immediate housing, health, mental health, financial and practical needs
Tailor individual case plans to support client goals
Strengthen community connection through referrals and housing pathway access
Identifyand address barriers to income supports and payments
Respond promptly to crisis situations withappropriate strategies
Maintainaccurateand confidential case notes,assessmentsand outcome data
Contribute to a positive,inclusiveand collaborative team environment
What you will bring
Relevant qualifications in Social Welfare or Community Services
Experience deliveringclient‑focused,trauma‑informedsupport
Ability to remain flexible,adaptableand calm in changing situations
Strong communicationskills using clear, plain English
Capacity to build respectful relationships with clients and partners
Understanding of homelessness, itscausesand impacts
Experience in welfare or human services
Desirable: A current driver’s licence to support clients with urgent appointments
A current First Aid Certificate

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.
We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
