Join Us as a Doorways Case Worker – Make a Real Impact in Townsville
Position: Case Worker
Classification: SCHADS Level 4
Location: Townsville
Status: Permanent Part‑Time (.6 FTE 22.8 hours per week)
We’re looking for a compassionate, values‑driven Case Worker who believes in the power of dignity, connection, and strengths.
Using a trauma‑informed, client‑centred approach, you’ll walk alongside people as they rebuild confidence, enhance wellbeing, and strengthen their sense of belonging. If you’re passionate about social justice and supporting meaningful, self‑directed change, this role is for you.

The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short-term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred, trauma-informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.
About the role
Reporting to the Doorways Regional Manager you’ll work with community members to support their goals and build pathways to social and economic independence, addressing systemic barriers related to poverty. You’ll work using a holistic, whole-of-life view to understand clients’ needs, skills, and resources, and help them access the support and opportunities they need to take positive steps forward.
The primary aim of this role is to empower clients – working alongside them in a strengths‑based, collaborative way helping them identify their own goals and find meaningful solutions that work for them.

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.
We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.
We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
