ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this role matters

Are you passionate about supporting women and children impacted by domestic and family violence? Do you want to work in a values-driven organisation that empowers recovery, safety, and long-term wellbeing?

The Salvation Army Family Violence Stream provides a broad range of specialist programs supporting women, children, and single women who have experienced domestic and family violence (DFV). We provide welcoming, accessible, and culturally safe services that support recovery, empowerment, and connection to community.

About the role

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced DFV Case Manager – Refuge & Outreach to join our dedicated team.

As a case manager, will provide specialist case management and support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence across refuge and outreach settings, supporting their safety, recovery and journey towards independence.

The position is based primarily in Sydney's Inner West, with travel between different service locations across Sydney required as part of the role. This is a full-time position classified at SCHADS Award Level 5.

Due to the nature of this service, to identify as a woman is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under s.31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

How you will make an impact

  • Provide welcoming and responsive support to women seeking assistance in refuge and community settings.
  • Deliver culturally safe and appropriate support to First Nations women and families.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships that encourage self-determination and participation.
  • Undertake ongoing risk assessments, safety planning, and case management.
  • Develop and review individual case plans in partnership with clients.
  • Support clients to access housing, health, legal, financial, and community services.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients and strengthen referral pathways with external agencies.
  • Provide outreach support to women transitioning into stable accommodation.
  • Maintain accurate client records and case notes in line with organisational standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, training, and community engagement activities.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the refuge, including intake and recovery activities.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required.

What you will bring

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working within the domestic and family violence sector.
  • Strong knowledge of DFV risk assessment, safety planning, case management, and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Experience working with clients experiencing complex needs, including mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and external service providers.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • A current Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).

Why Join Us?

As a registered NFP we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as:

  • NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650).
  • Flexible working conditions.
  • Health, fitness and financial discounts / benefits.
  • Paid parental leave - 12 weeks.
  • Up to 8 weeks leave per year through our purchase leave scheme.
  • Up to 5 days paid leave per year to ‘volunteer’ in a TSA program or activity.
