Pay: starting from $22.36 per hour | Incentive Pay | $500 SIGN-ON BONUS!

Job Type: Full-Time | In-Person

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00AM-5:00pm | rotating on-call schedule

What You’ll Do:

  • Support individuals who struggle with their mental health—including adults with severe and persistent mental illness and emotionally disturbed youth—in building skills, increasing independence, and working toward meaningful personal goals.
  • Serve individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness & Severely Emotionally Disturbed youth, as well as other assigned individuals requiring case management services.
  • Collaborate with clients and families to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address mental, emotional, and social needs.
  • Travel throughout our 20-county service area to meet clients where they are—at home, in schools, or in the community (Center vehicle provided).
  • Lead or assist in group activities that focus on building life skills, managing symptoms, and improving overall quality of life.
  • Advocate for your clients, helping them navigate systems and access essential community resources such as housing, education, healthcare, and employment support.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate documentation to track progress, support quality care, and meet compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Experience counts! We accept equivalent work experience in human services (teaching, daycare, CNA, etc.) or a BA/BS degree. One year of related work = one year of college.
  • Great with people—strong communication and empathy are a must.
  • Comfortable in a variety of human service settings.
  • Able to pass drug screen & be subject to a random drug testing pool.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Founded in 1964, High Plains Mental Health Center has been serving the residents of Northwest Kansas with mental health services for more than five decades.

High Plains, a licensed community mental health center, is dedicated to an aggressive pursuit of providing a comprehensive mental health program to the residents of Northwest Kansas.

Embodied in this pursuit are fundamental principles of establishing quality services as close to home as possible, at an affordable fee and delivered in the least disruptive manner available. Such services will offer a continuum of care so treatment can be individualized. Staff will respond quickly and compassionately to those reaching out to us. In addition to our offices in Hays, there are five full-time Branch Offices located in Colby, Goodland, Norton, Osborne and Phillipsburg. Services are available on a regular basis in Wallace, Rawlins, Logan, Decatur, Gove, Norton, Graham, Trego, Ness, Rooks, Rush, Smith and Russell counties.
