Case Manager – Street to Home

Alice Springs, NT | Full Time | SCHADS Level 4

Many people in Alice Springs are living without a safe or stable place to call home. The Street to Home program walks beside people who are sleeping rough or experiencing deep instability. It offers connection, practicalsupportand a pathway toward hope.

About the role

This role suits someone who is confident supporting people with complex needs and who feels comfortable working in dynamic,real-worldenvironments. You will walk alongside people experiencing homelessness, trauma, substance use, mental healthconcernsandlong periodsof disconnection from services. You will bring a steady, adaptable approach and a genuine commitment to supporting people who may have been let down before.

Most of your work will take place out in the community rather than behind a desk. You will spend time in town camps, along the riverbed and in places where people feel comfortable. Trust grows through consistency, respect and showing up in a way that feels safe for the person you are supporting.

A central part of this role is building strong relationships with Aboriginal people and communities. You will work in a culturally respectful, trauma informed andperson-centredway. You will understand the importance of trust and engage with people who may have had difficult experiences with services in the past.

You will take initiative and make confident decisions in changing situations, working independently while contributing to a team that values open communication, goodenergyand genuine care. Creativity is encouraged and you will find practical, engaging ways to connect with people and support them to move forward. Attitude matters and you will bring warmth, goodjudgementand a willingness to roll up your sleeves, showing genuine care through your actions.

This is a permanentfull-timerole based in Alice Springs, with salary and conditions paying 10%above the award rates of SCHADS Level 4.

  • Work in a culturally respectful way when supporting Aboriginal people who have experienced trauma or systemic disadvantage

  • Take initiative and make confident decisions in dynamic environments

  • Contribute positively to a supportive team culture built on communication,collaborationand genuine care

  • Use creativity to engage people, coordinate practicalsupportsand approach challenges in new ways

What you will bring

  • Certificate IV in Community Services or a related qualification

  • Experience supporting people with complex needs in a social services environment

  • Case management skills grounded in empathy,structureand cultural humility

  • Experience working with people who may not have English as a first language

  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture

  • Confidence working independently and making sound decisions

  • Creativity,initiativeand a willingness to think differently

  • Strong communication, goodjudgementand reliable documentation skills

  • NT Driver’s Licence

  • Valid NT Working with Children’s Check (Ochre Card)

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville. Together, we are committed to improving the health outcomes for children today and in the future.

In 2016–17, more than 85,654 children attended our Emergency Department, 322,291 specialist clinic appointments were held which was almost 70,000 more than the previous year, more than 17,000 surgeries were performed and more than 48,552 children were admitted to our wards.
