CAS is currently seeking a Data Analytics and Insights Innovation Cohort Fellow for Product Innovation in AI for Chemistry. This position will be located at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Our Summer Intern Program aims to foster a high level of engagement and learning for participants through in-depth immersion into our working environment with our professional teams.

This fellowship is designed for undergraduate and graduate students in chemistry or a neighboring discipline, with an avid interest in how AI is reshaping chemistry and industry. Fellows imagine the future of AI in chemistry and work to make it a reality — performing research with prospective customers, building and testing product prototypes, and gathering feedback from users and domain experts. Fellows receive regular feedback and guidance from CAS mentors throughout the program. All Fellows also take part in a leadership and entrepreneurship cohort with startup-focused leadership alongside CAS mentorship, including weekly sessions and hands-on assignments completed on the job at CAS. The fellowship culminates in wrap-up presentations and an award for the top product candidate. The Internship will run from May 17th, 2027, to August 6th, 2027.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Imagine the future of AI in chemistry and work to make it a reality
  • Perform research with prospective customers across chemistry to identify opportunities
  • Build and test product prototypes designed to solve important problems in chemistry
  • Obtain feedback from users and domain experts
  • Learn about product development and product management in software and data science
  • Participate in a leadership and entrepreneurship cohort with startup-focused leadership
  • Deliver a wrap-up presentation of your product candidate

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in chemistry or a neighboring discipline
  • Avid interest in the impact of AI on chemistry and industry
  • Curiosity about product development, product management, and prototyping
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cohort while driving an individual product concept
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Experience working with chemistry, life science, and/or materials science data preferred, but not required
