Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes. Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. Selects specified type of lumber or other materials. Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers. Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes. Assembles cut and shaped materials ad fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue. Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter’s level. Erects framework for structure and lays sub-flooring. Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions. May provide data to Automated Information Systems (AIS). Performs duties in accordance with AR 710-2, AR 735-5, current DLA Disposition Services (DLADS) disposal guidelines, AR 420–1, AR 190-11, and Department of Defense Uniformed Facilities Code (UFC). Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma / GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and minimum of two (2) years related experience.
Requires the job knowledge, skill level and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions. To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the contract, employee will possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as necessary to perform assigned job functions. Journeyman level certification or equivalent.
Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located.
