Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Carpenter/ Roofer to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia.
Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building, woodwork, and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood. Work involves most of the following: Planning and laying out of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenters' hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments; making standard shop computations relating to dimensions or work; and selecting materials necessary for the work. In general, the work of the maintenance carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Knowledgeable in the inspection and identifying stress, wear, and failing of commercial built-up roofing and single-ply systems. Knowledgeable in proper repair of commercial low and steep slope roofs (according to manufacturer's specifications). Knowledgeable in being able to troubleshoot and identify areas of rainwater intrusion into building structures. Be able to identify, modify, and repair types of metal components. Be able to identify, modify and repair types of metal components, flashings, gravel stop, roof panels, pitch pocket, coping and its purpose in roofing system. Be able to inspect, disassemble, and modify steel siding, siding channel and flashing to insure against water intrusion into structure. Be able to perform other work pertaining to maintenance and modification of guiding structures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school education or equivalent.
Three (3) years of verifiable current roofing experience (hands-on) in roof inspection, repair, and maintenance including a minimum two (2) years of verifiable experience as a journey-level carpenter.
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc., (includes blueprint reading, measurement, and layout).
Must be able to successfully complete National Roofing Contractor Association- approved roofing seminar within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
Must possess the standard tools of the trade.
Must be able to work at various heights from mechanical lifting devices.
High school graduate or equivalent
Must possess a valid state driver's license
Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-05 standards.
Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
