The Division of Administration/Office of State Buildings has a vacancy. This job title has an assigned pay grade of WS-215.

The Office of State Buildings maintains and operates all facilities under the jurisdiction of the Division of Administration. This currently includes over 6 million sq. ft., primarily office buildings as well as other occupancy types. Included among our facilities are many office buildings that house various state agencies providing service to the public.

The mission of the Office of State Buildings is to provide for the operations and maintenance within and around all building facilities under Division of Administration jurisdiction. Four regional divisions perform operations and maintenance: Alexandria/Lafayette Region, Shreveport/Monroe Region, New Orleans Region, and the Baton Rouge Region. The Operations Division has local and regional responsibilities for operations and preventive maintenance.

Four distinct functional divisions perform repairs and minor construction: Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Horticultural. These divisions have statewide responsibilities over maintenance functions. Large construction projects and repairs are handled via contracts through Facility Planning and Control and/or the Office of State Procurement.

This position is responsible for all construction maintenance and repair activities in all Office of State Buildings including work performed by outside contractors.

The Division of Administration is the state government’s management arm and the hub of its financial operations. Division offices perform a wide variety of activities, including the following:

  • Overseeing the state’s capital construction program
  • Working to provide state and federal grants for community development
  • Development of the state budget
  • Providing technology services
  • Giving agencies guidance in the state purchasing and contracting process as they seek goods and services
  • Administering a program that provides federal funds to help Louisiana residents recover from a series of devastating hurricanes

Examples of duties

Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Four years of experience or training in the carpentry trade.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in the managerial functions relative to building maintenance, construction, and renovation of all OSB state owned buildings concerning Architectural items.
  • Assist in the administration of contracts for construction and maintenance to ensure contractors comply with specifications.
  • Oversee the repair, alteration, or maintenance of Architectural items in OSB buildings.
  • Inspect buildings and structures and plans to determine materials and time required to estimate the cost of repairs or construction.
  • Maintain close and open communications with the Facility Maintenance Manager C on problems, short and long-term requirements, priority changes, and provides input for long-range departmental plans and systems requirements within all OSB state buildings.
  • Conduct safety meetings to ensure each employee is aware of his responsibility to comply with the safety rules of the Office of State Buildings and the Division of Administration.
  • Perform administrative functions, leave approval, time sheets, etc. Interview new applicants, makes recommendations for personnel actions, evaluates personnel for hiring and training, recommends promotions, completes annual service ratings, and recommends disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Attend required trainings as well as other trainings offered through the Division of Administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager C, and upper management of OSB.
