Position Overview

We are seeking a versatile and skilled Civil Carpenter to handle a mix of structural construction, professional painting, and facility support duties. In this role, you will construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard using a variety of hand and power tools. This position requires strong technical skills—including structural design knowledge, blueprint reading, and simple layouts—paired with a proactive attitude toward general site maintenance and team support tasks.

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • Structural Construction: Construct, erect, install, and repair temporary and permanent structures, frameworks, and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard.
  • Blueprint & Layout Execution: Read, interpret, and accurately execute technical blueprints and structural specifications to guide daily work and perform simple site layouts.
  • Structural Fabrication: Replace doors, repair or build interior/exterior walls, and construct heavy-duty stairs or ramps as needed to ensure safety and structural integrity.
  • Tool Proficiency: Safely and skillfully operate standard construction trade hand and power tools, maintaining them in optimal working condition.

Specific Site Support & Maintenance Duties

  • Professional Painting & Coating: Prepare surfaces and apply professional-grade paint, primers, and protective coatings to walls, trim, doors, and other remodeled structures.
  • Paint Equipment Operation: Proficiently set up, operate, clean, and maintain a wide range of painting equipment, including:
  • Facility Logistics: Safely move, lift, and rearrange office furniture, materials, and equipment to facilitate renovations or room reconfigurations.
  • General Clean-Up: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment by performing daily site clean-up and debris disposal.
  • Craft Utility Support: Prepare fresh water stations and reliably deliver water and supplies to on-site crafts, work crews, or operating units.
  • Adaptable Execution: Perform other duties as assigned by the project foreman or facility manager to support changing operational needs.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven history as a civil or commercial carpenter with a strong understanding of trade practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Technical Skills: Solid knowledge of structural design, precise measurement, and the independent ability to read and interpret construction blueprints.
  • Painting Expertise: Demonstrated competency in mixing paint, thinning coatings for spray applications, and performing routine field maintenance on paint sprayer pumps and filters.
  • Physical Demands: Highly physical role requiring the ability to lift heavy materials/furniture (50+ lbs), climb ladders, stand for long shifts, and work in diverse facility environments.
  • Work Ethic: Strong team-player attitude, willing to jump from skilled carpentry work to general support and clean-up tasks as needed.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. Austin is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.
