Carpenter

Reports to: Field Leadership (Key/Lead Tradesperson, Foreman) and/or Field Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hours: As directed by crew leader. Hours may vary depending on project requirements and schedules. Saturdays may be required to meet job deadlines or operational needs.

Job Location: As directed

General Overview: Carpenters are responsible for building, installing, and maintaining structural formwork, foundations and other related components on a heavy civil construction project. Carpenters consistently demonstrate Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.

Responsibilities

• Builds, assembles, and installs forms for concrete structures and flatwork
• May assist with or perform lagging and pile driving operations
• Performs basic layout duties in accordance with job specifications
• Uses hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Maintains all company tools and equipment; reports maintenance needs promptly
• Maintains a clean and safe work area
• Assists with setup and teardown of job area
• Communicates with crew members and supervision regarding progress, safety, and equipment needs
• Knows and adheres to all Company policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of layout and concrete formwork principles, knowledge of trade specific tools. Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, ability to maintain clear and safe communication, ability to work in all weather conditions, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and climb for extended periods, ability to maintain balance and coordination on uneven or slippery surfaces, ability to work around loud noises and heavy machinery, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, ability to learn new skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be a union member or able to complete union sign-up within 30 days of hire
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification (30-Hour preferred), or ability to obtain appropriate certification
• Must successfully pass a drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a SUPR Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana.)
• Must have access to reliable transportation
