Job Description

Citycare Property will soon partner with the New Zealand Defence Force Facilities Management Services to provide essential facilities, maintenance, and infrastructure services across camps and bases throughout Aotearoa.

Join us in the role of Caretaker, for the Tekapo site of the NZDF operated by Burnham Military Camp to support the environments that enable NZDF personnel to focus on protecting and serving New Zealand communities.

Burnham Military Camp is the South Island’s largest Army base, located in the Selwyn District, and home to around 1,300 personnel including the 2nd/1st Battalion of the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, logistics and support units, the New Zealand Army Band, and the NZDF Health School. The Burnham Military Camp includes the Tekapo Military Camp and Training Area located immediately south of Tekapo.

The Tekapo Military Training Area is an important site for initial field training, battle handling exercises and preparation for deployment to operations. Rugged and undulating, this training area is made up of 1700 ha of terrain, sits 800-1100m above sea level, and includes some ecologically sensitive and protected natural areas.

What You’ll Be Doing | Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
• Managing and implanting the daily provision of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance works and operational activities across the Tekapo site.
• Complete all scheduled maintenance in accordance with the maintenance plan and monthly timeframes.
• Managing all procurement and administrative aspects of maintenance delivery.
• Ensuring compliance with the NZDF Construction Health, Environment and Safety Specification and associated Health and Safety processes and policies.
• Interacting professionally and respectfully with NZDF personnel, contractors, and site users at all times.
• Water testing and water reporting.
• Hands on maintenance work – mowing and caretaker activities

What We’re Looking For| Ā Mātou e Rapu Ana:
• Relevant Trade qualification
• NZ Driver’s License
• Extensive experience (ideally 5 years +) as an Operations / Delivery / Contract supervisor or similar in complex or high-security environments.
• Experienced in the application of workplace safety.
• Strong capability in managing stakeholder relationships.
• Understanding of asset management practices and application
• Experienced at being able to work remotely and autonomously.
• Absolute alignment with Citycare Property values.
• The legal right to work in Aotearoa, ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and willingness to consent to a Criminal Record Check
• Ability to meet NZDF specific security requirements
