About the opportunity

Lead the delivery and future direction of one of Australia’s most impactful carer support programs. As Carer Gateway Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal senior leadership role within Wellways’ Family and Carer Services portfolio, driving operational excellence, workforce capability and integrated service delivery across Queensland, South West Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains.

Working as part of a collaborative senior leadership team, this role offers the opportunity to influence system-wide outcomes for carers, lead through reform and transformation, and shape innovative, person-centred service models that respond to the complexity of carers’ lives. You will provide strategic operational leadership across a large, multi-region program, empowering senior leaders and teams to deliver high-quality, carer-led services aligned to national priorities, contractual outcomes and Wellways’ values.

You will bring strong operational and people leadership capability, a collaborative and strategic mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement, lived experience and integrated care outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business Management or a related discipline, or equivalent senior operational leadership experience in complex human services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in senior operational or management roles within community services, disability, health, aged care or related sectors.
  • Proven capability leading large‐scale or multi‐site service operations, balancing service quality, performance, workforce and financial requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supporting managers or senior leaders, including performance management, coaching and building collaborative leadership cultures.
  • Strong operational problem‐solving skills, with the ability to identify system and workflow constraints and implement practical, sustainable improvements that enhance carer experience and outcomes.
  • Capacity to operate flexibly in a senior leadership role, including participation in out‐of‐hours activities as required.
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check.
  • International Police Check, where applicable.
  • Current Working with Children Check relevant to the jurisdiction of
  • employment (e.g. NSW and/or QLD).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check, where required.
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
  • Current valid Driver Licence and capacity to undertake regular travel as required.
  • Compliance with all Wellways policies and procedures, including privacy, confidentiality, work health and safety and risk management requirements.

Wellways Australia is a leading national mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, ACT, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.

We work with a diverse range of people, their families and carers to identify needs and goals to build good lives in the community This includes creating a home, getting a job and building meaningful relationships.

We also deliver services to people with multiple, complex needs and often do this in partnership with clinical services, health support agencies and government.

Our services are informed by current evidence on mental health, rehabilitation and community inclusion, together with an understanding of people’s lived experience – what works for them.

We are a registered NDIS service provider. Our knowledgeable staff have the right community connections. We offer: support co-ordination, group based activities, assistance to access community, skills development, assistance with household tasks and personal care, housing and tenancy, help with budgeting and travel training.

Many of our staff draw from their own experience of mental health issues to provide peer support in services, education courses, advocacy workshops and our advice and referral Helpline.

Our commitment to advocacy is central. We consult with consumers, carers, government and local business to ensure people have better opportunities to get well, stay well and fully participate in the community without stigma.
