Job Description

Caregiver- Memory Enhancement Center

Pay Rate: $21.52 to $25.00 per hour

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable Caregiver to join our Memory Care team. The Caregiver provides person-centered assistance and supervision to residents living with dementia or other cognitive impairments. This role supports each resident’s safety, dignity, comfort, independence, and quality of life while following individualized service plans and established community procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, mobility, transfers, and personal hygiene.
  • Offer compassionate redirection, reassurance, and emotional support to residents experiencing confusion, anxiety, agitation, wandering, or other dementia-related behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness of resident whereabouts and provide appropriate supervision to promote safety, prevent falls, and reduce the risk of elopement or unsafe wandering.
  • Encourage residents to participate in planned activities, social engagement, exercise, meals, and meaningful daily routines based on their preferences and abilities.
  • Assist residents during meals, including escorting residents to dining areas, providing cueing and encouragement, monitoring intake, and assisting with feeding as needed and permitted.
  • Observe residents for changes in physical condition, behavior, appetite, mobility, skin integrity, mood, or level of functioning, and promptly report concerns to the Med-Tech, LVN, nurse, or supervisor.
  • Take and document resident vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other observations when assigned and trained to do so.
  • Assist with maintaining resident rooms and common areas in a clean, organized, safe, and homelike condition.
  • Follow individualized care plans, behavioral support approaches, infection-control practices, emergency procedures, and resident rights at all times.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with residents, families, coworkers, nurses, and supervisors regarding resident needs and changes in condition.
  • Maintain confidentiality and treat all residents with dignity, patience, respect, and compassion.
  • May assist with medication-related duties only after successfully completing required Med-Tech training, competency validation, and all applicable licensing and community requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in a licensed residential care setting and successfully complete required DOJ/FBI criminal background clearance and Live Scan requirements.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain certification within the required onboarding period.
  • Prior experience providing direct care and supervision to older adults with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other cognitive impairments in a residential care, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home care, or similar setting preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) certification preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to understand and follow individualized service plans, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and dementia-related behavioral support approaches.
  • Ability to safely assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and other physical-care needs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds, consistent with safe-lifting procedures and use of available equipment.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, observation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated patience, compassion, professionalism, and ability to remain calm when supporting residents with confusion, anxiety, agitation, or other dementia-related behaviors.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime, based on operational needs.
